About Us

How The Name Maradonar came to us...

My daughter and I have been very fortunate to have been given the honour of holding the 'Maradonar' Affix in the United Kingdom. The honour was bestowed upon us by a very good friend who owned a Border Collie named 'OB. CH. Morena Moss of Maradonar'. He was a well loved and well recognised Obedience Champion and also did extremely well in the Breed Rings until his owner Mrs.Pat Randell decided it was impeding his heelwork. 'Moss' was a large, long coated, tri-colour and a more handsome Collie would be hard to find. He sired approximately 150 puppies and we still have many of his grand-children and Great grand-children in the rings working superbly today.

I was fortunate to have used 'Moss' with my late bitch 'Budforth Wispa', Wispa was a black and white long coated bitch with the most superb temperament one could wish for.

Before 'Moss' passed away Pat had retired from the obedience circuit although she had his daughter 'Royale Princess of Maradonar' holding three CC's.  Pat then bestowed the Affix to myself and daughter as we had loved 'Moss' just because he was 'Moss', being an Obedience Champion had no significance to our adoration of him. We thank Pat for this honour, and we will always produce proudly under this affix.

We will always remember 'Moss' as a true ambassador to the Border Collie and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.

The affix Maradonar is owned by Jan Daelman and Richard Tonge.

Our Pledge:

Our aim is to promote good, solid, healthy types, no matter what our breed. We commend the efforts that are made to breed to any breed standard, lets face it we cannot always get it perfectly right, but the effort to produce as perfectly as we can must always be a breeder’s first criteria.

We promote all health tests for our breeds, and encourage others to do the same. You can find out from the Kennel Club about health problems in certain breeds, but if you want to know about our breeds feel free to ask.

We believe we are the keeper’s of our breed and no one ever owns a breed – we as breeder’s must do our very best to leave behind us the best examples of our breeds for the next generation who will become the keeper’s.

We at Maradonar believe that the homeland of whichever breed we represent has to be our standard to uphold. If we cannot or will not do this then it would be best for the breed to stay in it’s own homeland and be protected by that Countries breeder’s.

We also over the years have studied new products, foods, etc to the best of our ability to try and do our best for our breeds without falling into the trap of purchasing products just because they seem to be the ‘flavour’ of the month. We expect good value and good service.

With this in mind we have expanded our Kennel to include our Grooming shop, Animal cages/crates, and also built a secondary website for people to purchase first class Aloe Vera products which we use extensively for our animals and ourselves. We fully endorse these products as we have used all for a very extended period of time before being prompted to let other people know about what we use and endorse.

We hope you will enjoy our websites and any queries or questions please just drop us a line, we are always pleased to chat. Visitors are always welcome at Maradonar although we do ask you to drop us an email or telephone call to arrange your arrival, we would hate for you to call and we not be at home.

All our Best Wishes

Richard & Jan
